The Cyprus police start the campaign to combat the violations in the use of the seat belts among the motorists, which will last for a week.
The Chief of police Mr. Yiannakis Charalambous stated that the campaign (which will be the first Pancyprian campaign in 2017) is expected to last until Sunday.
The passengers, who are not using seat belts will be fined and will be warned about the tragic consequences of not using this piece of safety equipment.
Mr. Charalambous also added that 50% of traffic accidents become lethal just because the use of seat belts was ignored. Even when travelling short distances, it is important to remember how vulnerable are the kids in a traffic accident and that they must be property restrained by the seat belts.
