The Magnetic Dipoles to combine music and physical theatre in Erimi

Erimi, Cyprus. The Cyprus Wine Museum will host The Magnetic Dipoles on Friday, July 17, as part of its Commandaria Orchestra & Friends chamber music concert series. The performance will begin at 8pm in the Knights’ Courtyard.

Music and movement

The production brings together contemporary flute, classical violin and physical theatre, exploring the acoustic and expressive possibilities of the two instruments.

The programme places Baroque music alongside avant-garde works, creating contrasts between Baroque form and dance-like movement and contemporary sound exploration, breath, experimentation and physicality.

Programme

The repertoire includes compositions by JS Bach, Robert Dick, Ian Clarke, George Crumb, Wil Offermans and Olivier Messiaen.

Works featured include Ian Clarke’s The Great Train Race, an excerpt from George Crumb’s Vox Balaenae titled Vocalise (…for the Beginning of Time), works by Robert Dick and Wil Offermans, and Messiaen’s Sigle, based on birdsong.

Performers and tickets

Olivia Kaloudi will perform on contemporary flute, Barbara Lucas on classical violin, and Georgia Triggi will lead the physical theatre element. The performance was conceived by Kaloudi.

The event will take place at the Cyprus Wine Museum in Erimi on July 17 at 8pm. Tickets cost €20 and can be booked through www.cypruswinemuseum.com.
