The poverty levels increase in Northern Cyprus

Прожиточный минимум

The Cyprus-Turkish trade union KTAMS has published the statistical data about poverty in the so-called Northern Cyprus. The survey covered families, which consist of 4 people and whose spending is around 440 Euros per month. This amount includes the expenses of the basic needs for living. However, the official minimum income, which includes costs of clothes, rents, bills and fuel is 2,000 Euros per month.

According to the secretary of the organisation Devrim Barzin, 80% of the private sector get even less than that – only 390 Euros per month. The percentage of such people is quite high, which worsens the situation overall.
