Nicosia, Cyprus. Thirteen people were arrested during nationwide police operations on Wednesday night, police said on Thursday. The arrests involved offences including vehicle arson, illegal drug possession, carrying knives, forged documents and the circulation of counterfeit banknotes.
Checks and citations
Officers checked 680 drivers and 227 passengers and inspected 42 premises, resulting in three citations. Police also issued 339 traffic citations and are investigating nine additional offences.
Traffic enforcement
Speeding was the most common violation, with 89 drivers reported for exceeding the speed limit. Five vehicles were impounded.
Police carried out 165 alcohol tests, with six positive results. One driver also tested positive in a preliminary drug test.
