Three arrested after alleged assault in Limassol leaves 20-year-old hospitalized

Limassol, Cyprus. Police said three people were arrested on Sunday after a 20-year-old reported being assaulted in Limassol earlier that day. The arrests are linked to allegations including conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of an assault weapon and causing injury.


Incident report

Police said a 20-year-old reported at around 5am on Sunday that he was walking in Limassol at about 1am when a car stopped next to him. The man said three unknown people got out of the car, assaulted him, and then fled the scene.

Medical treatment

After reporting the incident, the man was taken by ambulance to Limassol general hospital. Police said he was found to have suffered lung contusions and abdominal lacerations, for which he received stitches.

Condition

Police said the 20-year-old remains in hospital and his condition is out of danger.

Arrests and custody

Police said testimonies were obtained against three people aged 24, 22 and 20, who were arrested and placed in custody.
