Choirokitia, Cyprus. Three people escaped from a burning car after it collided with another vehicle and roadside railings on the motorway connecting Limassol and Nicosia shortly after midnight on Saturday. Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Crash sequence
The car was driven by a 34-year-old man and carried two 40-year-old passengers. After entering the motorway’s overtaking lane near the exit for the Choirokitia archaeological site, it collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old woman.
The car then struck the railings on the outside of the motorway, came to a halt, and burst into flames.

Police said both the 34-year-old driver and the 48-year-old woman were found not to have consumed alcohol before the collision. Both were taken to Larnaca general hospital as a precaution.
