Washington, United States. US President Donald Trump said he discussed a possible ceasefire in Ukraine during a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump also said Putin offered to help on Iran’s enriched uranium.
Comments on call with Putin
Trump said on Wednesday that he spoke by phone with Putin and described the conversation as positive. “We had a good talk, I’ve known him a long time,” Trump said.
Ukraine ceasefire suggestion
Speaking to reporters during a meeting with astronauts from the Artemis II mission in the Oval Office, Trump said he suggested “a little bit of a ceasefire” in the war in Ukraine. “And I think he might do that,” Trump said, before asking reporters whether Putin had announced a ceasefire.
Iran enriched uranium
Trump said Putin offered to help on the issue of Iran’s enriched uranium, which Trump described as a key obstacle to a deal to end the Iran war. Trump said he responded that he would “much rather have you be involved with ending the war with Ukraine.”
