Washington, United States. President Donald Trump urged countries he said did not assist in U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran to buy American oil and take action in the Strait of Hormuz. He singled out the United Kingdom and France in a Truth Social post on Tuesday.
Comments on UK and access to fuel supplies
Trump said countries unable to obtain jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz should buy from the United States. He criticised the United Kingdom for what he described as refusing to get involved in the “decapitation of Iran” and urged it to “go to the Strait of Hormuz and ‘just TAKE it.’”
Statements on U.S. support and call to act
In his post, Trump said the United States would not help countries “anymore” and told them they would have to “start learning how to fight for yourself,” adding, “The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!”
Criticism of France over overflight
Trump also criticised France for not allowing planes carrying military supplies to Israel to fly over French territory.
How do you think Trump’s comments could affect relations with the United Kingdom and France?
