Two hospitalised after window jump during Larnaca flat search; three arrested, police say

Larnaca, Cyprus. Two people were hospitalised after jumping from a second-floor window during a police search of a flat in Larnaca on Thursday night, and three people were arrested, police said on Friday.

Police search and injuries

Police said officers arrived at the flat and initially identified four people before informing them of the reason for the search. Police said that at that point, two people jumped out of a window and were injured after landing on the ground.

The injured individuals were identified as a 34-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman. Both were taken by ambulance to Larnaca general hospital, with police saying the man sustained external injuries and the woman broke one of her arms.

Arrests and items found

Police said both injured individuals were arrested after officers found they were residing in Cyprus without the requisite residence documents.

Police said the two people who remained inside the flat were both 34-year-old men. During the search, police said they found 25 bags containing dry plant matter believed to be cannabis, with a combined weight of 600 grams, as well as another bag containing 346 grams of the same dry plant matter.

Police also reported finding a large number of various pills, 100 bottles containing an unknown substance, seven mobile phones, and €815 in cash.

Police said one of the two men who remained in the flat was arrested, while the other was released.

Court proceedings and investigation

All three arrestees are expected to face court proceedings at Larnaca general hospital for the issue of a remand, police said, as two remain under observation. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
