Two men arrested at Paphos airport over Protaras burglary and theft investigations

Protaras, Cyprus. Police arrested a 30-year-old and a 51-year-old man as part of investigations into burglary and theft cases in Protaras. The arrests were made at Paphos airport as the suspects were departing Cyprus.

Arrests following report of burglary and stolen AirPods

Police said the two suspects were identified and arrested on Thursday afternoon at Paphos airport. The arrests followed a report by a 37-year-old man that his house in Protaras had been broken into, with a sum of money and two pairs of AirPods worth 900 euros stolen.

Signal from stolen items leads to suspects

Police said that a signal emitted by the stolen AirPods in an area of Ayia Napa enabled the identification and location of the two suspects.

Suspected links to additional cases

The two men are suspected of involvement in four burglary and theft cases committed in Protaras between 14 and 16 April, police said. Authorities also determined that the 51-year-old is involved in 10 more cases of nighttime burglaries and thefts committed in Paralimni in 2023 and 2025.

Court appearance and ongoing investigation

Police said the two suspects are expected to be remanded before the Famagusta district court on Friday. Investigations are ongoing.
