Antalya, Turkey. Two road crashes in southern Turkey on Sunday killed 16 people and injured at least 30 others, including several in serious condition. Officials said a judicial investigation has been launched into the Antalya bus crash.
Antalya bus crash
Nine people were killed and 25 were injured when a bus in Antalya failed to navigate a turn and overturned into a ditch. Antalya Province Governor Hulusi Şahin confirmed that the bus driver later died despite medical efforts, raising the death toll from eight to nine.
The bus was carrying 34 passengers from Rodosto (Tekirdağ) to Antalya. It lost control on a motorway in the Döşemealtı area, skidded on a wet road, hit crash barriers and overturned into a ditch, CNN Türk reported.
Heavy rain, wet road conditions and fog affected visibility at the time. The road section is a junction where drivers should slow down, but the bus appeared to have been travelling at high speed. Seven of the injured remain in serious condition.
Authorities have not said whether any foreign nationals are among the victims.
Second crash on Antalya–Isparta highway
