Videogate investigator aims to meet July 20 deadline after two extensions

Nicosia, Cyprus. Independent criminal investigator Andreas Paschalides said on Tuesday he would strive to meet the new July 20 deadline in the so-called videogate investigation. The inquiry was launched after the publication in January of a video circulated online by an account operating under the name Emily Thomson.

Deadline extended

The investigation’s original deadline had been set for mid-April. Paschalides requested an extension twice and now has until July 20 to submit his findings.

Police assistance

Police spokesman Vyron Vyronos said on Tuesday that the police were assisting Paschalides in the investigation, following his instructions.

Allegations raised by footage

The footage triggered allegations involving political figures and business interests, as well as questions surrounding influence, campaign financing and major investment decisions.
