Limassol, Cyprus. Authorities on Monday issued a warrant for the arrest of a second person in connection with the assault of a speed camera operator last week. Police are reportedly looking for a special constable who serves in the Limassol district.
Second suspect sought
Police had earlier arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with last Thursday’s incident. The man is being held for questioning.
Incident details
A speed camera operator reported being assaulted by unknown individuals in the early hours of Thursday. The operator said that around 2.40am, while in a parked vehicle on the Paphos-Limassol motorway near the Kouklia exit, a car pulled up with three people inside.
He said one of the individuals asked to speak with him, and he opened his window slightly. The operator alleged that the person then pepper-sprayed him in the face, while the other two individuals damaged the speed camera van.
Report to police
The operator drove off and reported the incident to police.
