Wednesday forecast: Clear start, rain moving in from the west and possible Troodos snowfall

Nicosia, Cyprus. Wednesday’s weather is forecast to start mostly clear before becoming cloudier, with rain expected to begin in the west and possible snow or sleet in the higher parts of Troodos. Winds are expected to strengthen later, with rougher seas developing.

Daytime conditions on Wednesday

The weather will be overwhelmingly clear at first but will gradually become cloudy, with rain starting in the west of the island. Snow or sleet may fall in the higher parts of Troodos.

Temperatures are expected to reach up to 20 degrees Celsius inland and on the coast, and up to 7 degrees in the higher mountains.

Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to the west, weak to moderate at up to 4 Beaufort, gradually increasing to up to 5 Beaufort. Later, strong to very strong winds are expected on the windward coast, reaching up to 6 Beaufort.

The sea will be slightly rough to rough, becoming locally rough later on.

Overnight forecast

Tonight, localised rain and snowfall are expected in the higher mountain regions, where isolated storms are possible. These conditions are expected to subside by Thursday morning.

Temperatures are forecast to drop to 7 degrees Celsius inland and around 10 degrees on the coast, and may fall to -1 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost is expected locally.

Winds will initially blow moderately to strongly from the southwest to the west at up to 5 Beaufort, and in leeward areas at a moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort, before shifting to the west and northwest at the same intensity.

The sea will generally be rough to very rough.

Outlook from Thursday to Saturday

From Thursday to Saturday, alternating periods of mainly clear weather and increased cloudiness are expected, with the possibility of isolated rain and light snowfall in the higher mountains.

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly on Friday before rising slightly on Saturday.
