Kalamata, Greece. A 39-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment in Kalamata in the early hours of Monday, and police arrested her 41-year-old husband on suspicion of intentional homicide.
Police response
According to Tharrosnews, neighbours heard shouting from the apartment at about 02:00 and called police. When officers arrived, the woman’s husband opened the door covered in blood.
Investigation
The woman was found dead in the bedroom with multiple wounds. According to the same report, a knife was found next to her, and she was reportedly holding it in her hand.
A forensic pathologist went to the apartment to examine the body and assist in determining the circumstances of the death.
Children taken to hospital
The 41-year-old man was arrested and faces a charge of intentional homicide. The couple’s two underage children were taken to the Pediatric Clinic of Kalamata Hospital as a precaution, and the Kalamata Police Department has taken over the preliminary investigation.
