XM Limassol Marathon backed by Deputy Tourism Ministry as sports tourism event

Limassol, Cyprus. Deputy Tourism Minister Kostas Koumis said the XM Limassol Marathon is among the country’s most important sports tourism events. Organisers said the Deputy Ministry of Tourism is participating as a Platinum sponsor under the Love Cyprus message.

Deputy ministry support and sponsorship

Koumis said the Deputy Ministry of Tourism supports an institution that brings together people from around the world and provides an opportunity “to show the world that Cyprus is a place worth discovering, exercising and loving at any time of the year”.

In a statement, organisers said the Deputy Ministry’s participation as a Platinum sponsor forms part of a strategy to promote Cyprus as a leading sports tourism destination.

Tourism focus and event promotion

Organisers said the aim is to establish the marathon as an institution that goes beyond racing and offers a complete tourist experience under the Cypriot sun.

They said the collaboration focuses on promoting Cyprus’s identity by combining its natural environment with hospitality and infrastructure for world-class races.

The statement added that the Love Cyprus brand is placed under efforts to highlight the island’s beauty and culture, describing the XM Limassol Marathon as an ambassador to convey the island’s vitality to thousands of visitors from abroad.

International visibility and race programme

It was stated that the sponsorship is intended to enhance the event’s international visibility, focusing on the coastal route, the participation of thousands of runners, and the atmosphere of the Limassol Molos.

Regarding the two-day racing programme, organisers said it begins on Saturday, March 21, with the Primetel Corporate 5km race along the coastal road, followed by the McDonald’s Kids Race 1km.
