Culture Ministry launches €100,000 Nostos 2026 heritage support scheme
The scheme will fund preservation, documentation and promotion projects for cultural heritage in occupied communities.

Nicosia, Cyprus. Deputy Culture Minister Clea Hadjistefanou-Papaellina on Tuesday presented the ministry’s first Nostos 2026 support scheme, aimed at safeguarding heritage in occupied communities in the north.
The €100,000 scheme will support projects focused on preserving, documenting and highlighting tangible cultural heritage, with grants of up to €5,000 per action.
Intergenerational continuity
Hadjistefanou-Papaellina said the initiative aims to transmit elements of the cultural mosaic of occupied communities to second- and third-generation refugees.
She said this would contribute to one of the plan’s fundamental objectives: intergenerational continuity.
Eligible beneficiaries
The scheme was drawn up in consultation with the union of occupied communities.
Potential beneficiaries include occupied communities, refugee associations, natural persons and non-profit cultural organisations.
Supported actions
Funding of up to €5,000 per proposed action may cover up to 100 per cent of total eligible costs.
Eligible activities include recording oral testimonies, conducting historical research, digitising archival material, and preserving customs and traditions.
