Cyprus and Germany explore business ties in energy storage and electric mobility
A German business delegation is meeting Cypriot companies and energy stakeholders to explore partnerships in storage, smart grids and electric mobility.

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus and Germany are considering business partnerships covering energy storage, smart grids and electric mobility during a German business delegation’s visit to the island. The meetings seek to deepen cooperation while tackling challenges facing Cyprus’ energy sector.
Business meetings run until October 16
The Employers and Industrialists Federation (Oev) organised the initiative jointly with the German-Hellenic Chamber of Industry and Commerce. It connects German companies with businesses and organisations in Cyprus through dozens of targeted business-to-business (B2B) meetings.
Held at Oev’s offices, the meetings started on October 13 and are scheduled to conclude on October 16, 2026. Their agenda covers electricity infrastructure, energy management and potential commercial partnerships.
Roundtable examines electricity system needs
Oev also convened a roundtable during the visit, bringing the German delegation together with key stakeholders in the Cypriot energy sector. Those attending represented the distribution system operator, universities, business and scientific organisations, and Oev.
The roundtable examined the infrastructure, technologies and expertise needed by Cyprus over the coming years as it works towards a better-performing electricity system capable of accommodating more renewable energy.
Participants paid particular attention to storage technologies, ways to integrate renewable generation more effectively into the grid, and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. They also considered exchanges of technical knowledge and partnerships linking German and Cypriot businesses in fields important to Cyprus’ energy transition.
Oev outlines wider objectives
According to Oev, the initiative supports its wider work to tackle energy challenges, expand Cypriot businesses’ international presence and promote transfers of technological know-how.
The federation also stressed the value of international commercial partnerships in sectors that can make the Cypriot economy more competitive.
