Nicosia, Cyprus. The final weekend of August will feature cultural events across Cyprus, including full moon celebrations, performing arts festivals, outdoor film screenings, markets, concerts and culinary gatherings.


Full moon events in Paphos

On Friday, August 28, the last full moon of August, described as one of the year’s biggest and brightest, will be observed through several events.

At the Ancient Odeon of Paphos, bouzouki quartet NYKSIS will perform alongside a music and narration programme. The Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation will invite visitors to view the night sky, while a cocktail hour will follow the 8.30pm performance. Entrance will be free.

On Saturday at 8pm, soprano Mariza Anastasiades and Rumba Attack will present “Songs of Love and the Moon” at Doikitiria Square. The free performance is part of the Municipality of Paphos’ August events programme.

Festival and food events

The 10th Anti-Skino Festival will take place at Val’s Place in Gialia on August 28 and 29. The anniversary edition will include theatre and music performances, workshops, activities for all ages, camping, storytelling and other performing arts events.

In Emba, the 11th Kolokasi Festival on Friday will focus on Cypriot taro root dishes, drinks and live music. Greek singer Elli Kokkinou is scheduled to perform.

Larnaca film, market and concert programme

The Larnaca Film Festival will continue until Sunday, with film screenings, workshops and guided city tours held across Larnaca. Organised by the Larnaca Cinema Society, the second edition includes short, feature and documentary films, workshops for educators and teenagers, walks and live music by local bands.

The Full Moon Market will take place on Dhekelia Road in Pyla on August 28 and 29. Organised by the team behind the Traditional Christmas Market in Pyla, the two-day summer event will include local artisans, performers, street food vendors and entertainers.

Greek singer Giannis Parios will perform at the Pattihio Municipal Amphitheatre in central Larnaca on August 28, presenting hit songs and Greek melodies.
