Ayia Napa, Cyprus. Cyprus took the top four places in a British ranking of European destinations for October and November holidays, with Ayia Napa first, followed by Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos. Israeli news website Walla highlighted the island’s warm weather, limited rainfall and short flying time from Israel.

Weather and travel factors

The ranking was compiled by British holiday company Solmar Villas, which assessed 105 European destinations using temperatures, the likelihood of rain and air fares during the final two months of autumn.

Temperatures in Cyprus during the period typically range from 24C to 29C. Ayia Napa averages 2.3 days of rain a month between September and November.

Solmar Villas specialises in villa holidays and rentals, offering more than 2,500 properties across at least 40 destinations. The England-registered company is now part of DERTOUR UK.

Appeal to Israeli travellers

In an article headlined “The sun is still here”, Walla said the ranking strengthened Cyprus’ appeal to Israeli travellers seeking a nearby destination with summer-like conditions into autumn. It noted that a flight from Tel Aviv takes about 40 minutes, making the island accessible for short breaks.

Walla described Ayia Napa as quieter and more relaxed after the summer season, Limassol as combining beach and city life, and Larnaca as an option for a slower-paced break. It highlighted Paphos for its history and archaeological attractions.
