Cyprus forecast: Clear Saturday with inland highs of 30C, rain expected Tuesday

Nicosia, Cyprus. Mostly clear skies are forecast across Cyprus for Saturday, when inland temperatures should reach about 30C, the Meteorological Department said. Rain is expected on Tuesday, with thunderstorms also possible.

Saturday temperatures and sea conditions

The department said a weak high-pressure system was temporarily influencing Cyprus, while low pressure would gradually develop from Tuesday. Small amounts of airborne dust would occur intermittently.

Saturday’s maximum temperatures were forecast at approximately 30C inland and 21C in the higher mountain areas. Coastal highs would reach 26C in the north and 29C elsewhere.

Winds would mainly come from the northwest to northeast at force 3–4 Beaufort. Along the southern coast, they would gradually shift to southwest-to-west directions by the afternoon, with temporary increases to force 4–5 Beaufort on the southwestern coast.

The sea was expected to range from calm to slightly rough. Southwestern waters could become slightly rough periodically during the afternoon.

Overnight outlook

The department forecast a largely clear Saturday night, though low cloud would form locally. Some areas could experience mist or fog in the early morning.

Overnight lows were expected to be about 15C inland, 17C in coastal areas and 12C at higher mountain elevations.

Cloud increases ahead of Tuesday rain

Sunday’s forecast was for predominantly clear skies, interrupted by occasional increases in cloud in some locations.

Monday would start with generally clear conditions and intermittent cloud, the department said. From the afternoon onward, skies would become mostly cloudy, particularly with cloud at middle and high levels.

Cloudy weather would dominate on Tuesday, bringing spells of localised rain and possible thunder in some areas.
