Cyprus records more than 1 million short-term rental guest nights in first quarter of 2026
Cyprus recorded 1,013,843 guest nights in online-platform short-term rentals from January to March 2026, according to Eurostat.

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus recorded 1,013,843 guest nights in short-term rental accommodation booked through online platforms in the first quarter of 2026, according to Eurostat. The figures cover stays arranged through platforms including Airbnb, Booking and Expedia.
Cyprus counted as a single region
The total covers January to March. Because of its small size compared with most other EU member states, Cyprus is treated as a single statistical region, meaning its regional figure represents the national total.
Eurostat published the figures on Friday as part of its latest data on short-stay accommodation offered through online platforms. National data were available for the second quarter of 2026, while regional data covered the first quarter.
EU guest nights increase
Across the European Union, 258.8 million nights were spent in short-term rental accommodation booked through online platforms between April and June 2026. This was an increase of 5.3 per cent, or 13.1 million nights, compared with the second quarter of 2025.
Compared with the second quarter of 2024, the total was 23.9 per cent higher, equivalent to an increase of 50.0 million nights.
Leading regions and seasonal trends
Canarias in Spain and Rhone-Alpes in France were the most popular EU regions for online-platform short-term rentals in the first quarter, recording 8.8 million nights each. Andalucia in Spain followed with 8.3 million nights, Eurostat said.
Five of the 10 most popular regions were in Spain, three were in France and two were in Italy. The distribution reflected the continued concentration of online-platform tourism in some of Europe’s major coastal and mountain destinations.
The Cyprus figures also showed a strong seasonal pattern in short-term rental activity during 2025, with demand rising sharply from spring and peaking in summer.
