Cyprus tourist arrivals fall 1.7% in June as decline moderates

Nicosia, Cyprus. Tourist arrivals to Cyprus fell by 1.7% in June 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, according to figures released by the Cyprus Statistical Service on Friday. The decline was smaller than contractions recorded earlier in the year.

June and first-half arrivals

A total of 489,965 tourists arrived in Cyprus in June 2026, compared with 498,527 in June 2025.

For the January-June period, arrivals reached 1,656,015, down 10.1% from 1,843,013 during the corresponding period last year.

The June figures showed that the tourism sector remained below last year’s performance, although the pace of decline moderated following a difficult spring affected by regional geopolitical uncertainty.

Source markets

The United Kingdom remained Cyprus’ largest tourism market, accounting for 33.0% of arrivals with 161,913 visitors.

Israel followed with 80,343 visitors, representing 16.4% of total arrivals. Poland accounted for 35,871 visitors, or 7.3%, while Sweden ranked fourth with 26,884 visitors, representing 5.5%.

Germany followed with 21,587 visitors, accounting for 4.4% of arrivals.

Purpose of travel

Holiday travel accounted for 81.6% of visitors to Cyprus in June.

Visits to friends and relatives represented 11.3% of arrivals, while 7.0% travelled for business purposes.

Compared with June 2025, the proportion of holidaymakers rose from 81.2%, while visits to friends and relatives declined from 13.2%.
