Kyiv, Ukraine. Four people were killed and more than a dozen injured in Russian air attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region on Tuesday, local authorities said, marking the sixth consecutive day of strikes on the area.

Explosions were heard in the capital, while air raid alerts covered most of Ukraine in the early hours of Tuesday.

Damage and casualties

Three people were killed and five others wounded in Kyiv, where a fire broke out in a non-residential area, city authorities said on Telegram.

In Boryspil, in the Kyiv region, one person was killed and nine others, including a child, were injured after missiles and drones damaged an apartment building and a business facility, regional governor Tymur Tkachenko said.

The repeated attacks on Kyiv and its surrounding region have disrupted the daily lives of millions of people.

Peace efforts

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday that he had held a “detailed and constructive” call with US President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

He said the sides were working to finalise dates for their visit to Ukraine as part of efforts to advance peace negotiations.

Drone attacks in Russia

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that Russian air defences shot down more than a dozen drones heading towards the capital.

In Russia’s Samara region, about 800 kilometres southeast of Moscow and home to several major oil refineries, an air attack damaged civilian facilities, the regional governor said.

The NATO Baltic air policing mission activated jet fighters in Latvia, while Finland restricted air and maritime traffic near Russia, the armed forces of both countries said separately on X. Russia’s northwestern Leningrad region, which contains major export ports, was also firing at drones on Tuesday.

Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians. Reuters could not independently verify the reported damage.
