High-rise fire in China’s Shanxi kills three and injures 23, Xinhua reports

Beijing, China. Three people were killed and 23 others were injured, including nine seriously, after a fire broke out in a high-rise building in Shanxi province in northern China, state news agency Xinhua reported.

Fire brought under control

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Xinhua said the blaze was brought under control after several hours.

Witness accounts

Witnesses described scenes of panic and said it was a miracle they got out and that the fire did not spread to nearby buildings.
