InterMaritime and Carsten Rehder form Hamburg shipmanagement joint venture

Hamburg, Germany. Cyprus-based InterMaritime Shipmanagement and Hamburg shipping company Carsten Rehder have formed a joint venture to expand ship and crew management services in Germany and Northern Europe.

The companies announced on Tuesday that they will equally own InterMaritime Shipmanagement GmbH & Co. KG, which will become the sole shareholder of Victoria Marine Ship Management GmbH & Co. KG.

Joint venture structure

Victoria Marine, Carsten Rehder’s technical shipmanagement business, will operate within the InterMaritime Group under the InterMaritime Shipmanagement name and logo.

The Hamburg-based joint venture will provide full technical management for about 20 vessels and crew management for a number of additional ships.

Expansion plans

The companies said the partnership combines Carsten Rehder’s local market knowledge and project development experience with InterMaritime’s international resources and network.

They said the agreement is intended to strengthen ship and crew management services, broaden the customer base and support further growth in Germany and Northern Europe.

InterMaritime already has a presence in Hamburg. The group is headquartered in Limassol and operates offices in Europe and Asia, including Germany, Greece and Poland, according to its official contact information.

Services and company background

Clients are expected to gain access to a wider recruitment network and a larger international pool of seafarers. The companies also cited increased local expertise and further career opportunities for crew.

Carsten Rehder has operated in the German shipping industry for more than 120 years. The business was established in 1903 by Carsten Rehder after he worked as a shipbroker in Altona.

Its technical management arm, Victoria Marine, provides services for vessels in the container, bulk, multipurpose and tanker segments, according to Carsten Rehder’s official page.
