Ivan Toney charged with assault over alleged Soho nightclub incident

London, United Kingdom. England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm over an alleged incident at a Soho nightclub, Metropolitan Police said on Friday. The 30-year-old is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24.

Alleged incident

The charge relates to an assault allegedly committed on December 6 last year at a nightclub on Wardour Street.

“Ivan Toney, 30, of Northampton, was charged on Thursday, 31 July with assault causing actual bodily harm,” police said in a statement.

Court appearance

Police said Toney would appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, September 24.

A spokesperson for Toney said he acknowledged the charge and was looking forward to the opportunity to clear his name in court.

“Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court,” the spokesperson said.

Football career

Toney plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli and scored 42 goals last season. He was also included in England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, although the former Brentford striker was used sparingly by coach Thomas Tuchel.

His court appearance is scheduled two days before England host world champions Spain at Wembley in their Nations League group opener.
