Nicosia, Cyprus. Greek retail group Jumbo recorded sales growth of approximately 14 per cent year-on-year in Cyprus in July, one of its strongest monthly performances in the market.

For the first seven months of 2026, sales in Cyprus rose by around 6 per cent, keeping the market ahead of the group-wide growth rate.

Group performance

Across the Jumbo Group, sales increased by approximately 9 per cent in July, accelerating from a 7 per cent rise in June. Sales for the January-to-July period were around 5 per cent higher year-on-year.

The July performance returned the group’s results to the levels expected by management and in line with guidance presented at its recent annual general meeting.

Management continues to forecast full-year sales growth of approximately 5 per cent, with net profit expected to range between €310 million and €320 million.

The company said the stronger July figures were encouraging amid a fragile geopolitical environment and continued pressure on Europe’s retail sector. It said the performance showed the resilience of consumer confidence across its network.

Performance by market

In Greece, the parent company’s net sales, excluding transactions between group companies, rose by approximately 10 per cent in July. Growth for the first seven months of the year reached around 8 per cent.

Bulgaria recorded the strongest July performance, with sales through its physical store network and local e-commerce platform increasing by approximately 21 per cent year-on-year. Bulgarian sales rose by around 13 per cent during the first seven months of 2026.

Romania was the only market to record a decline. Sales through the Romanian store network and online platform fell by approximately 3 per cent in July, while revenue for the first seven months of 2026 was down by around 6 per cent.
