Limassol, Cyprus. The Limassol criminal court has postponed until October 23 its decision on the individual responsibility and penalties of four men found guilty of involvement in the murder of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos.

The court had been expected to issue its ruling on Wednesday but delayed the case due to the large volume of testimony before it, according to Phileleftheros.

Court proceedings

The four men, aged 46, 44, 24 and 23, were found guilty prima facie in February. The court concluded at the time that they had contributed to the crime, while leaving the determination of their individual responsibility for Kalogeropoulos’ death and the severity of their sentences for a later stage.

The case was adjourned until October 23, when the decision is expected to be announced.

Fatal shooting

Kalogeropoulos was shot dead at the end of October 2023 while travelling to his morning swim in Limassol. A post-mortem examination found that he had been shot 10 times.

He was shot at close range from a vehicle by two people using a pistol and a Kalashnikov. The assailants then fled, set fire to their getaway vehicle and escaped on a motorcycle.

Alleged roles

Police investigations concluded that the 24-year-old was the alleged mastermind behind the plan, while the 44-year-old was suspected of being one of the two shooters.

The 46-year-old owns the house where the murder was allegedly planned, while the 23-year-old was allegedly riding the motorcycle.
