Nicosia, Cyprus. Low pressure is expected to affect Cyprus from Wednesday, bringing rain, thunderstorms and a gradual drop in temperatures, the Met Office said on Tuesday.


Tuesday forecast

Cloud cover will increase at intervals, with isolated rain or a thunderstorm expected in the afternoon, mainly over the mountains and possibly inland.

Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually strengthening to 5 Beaufort along exposed coasts. The sea will be slight.

Temperatures will reach around 30C inland and on the southern and eastern coasts, 28C on the western and northern coasts, and 19C in the higher mountains.

Overnight conditions

Cloud cover will remain locally increased at intervals. Winds will become downslope and light at 3 Beaufort. The sea will generally be calm to slight, remaining slight locally in the west.

Temperatures will fall to 17C inland, around 20C on the coasts and 11C in the higher mountains.

Wednesday through Friday

Conditions will be cloudy at intervals, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly after midday. Hail may fall during thunderstorms, and Friday’s weather could become intense or prolonged in some areas.

Temperatures will gradually fall through Friday to below the seasonal average.
