Paphos, Cyprus. A 19-year-old man from Paphos was arrested early on Sunday after police said he carried out dangerous driving manoeuvres and officers found equipment that could be used to facilitate a break-in in his vehicle.

Police pursuit

Police said officers noticed a vehicle at around 9pm on Saturday repeatedly making dangerous manoeuvres and skidding, endangering other road users.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it accelerated away, leading to a pursuit.

Vehicle search and arrest

The vehicle was driven onto a dead-end road, where the driver and two passengers abandoned it and fled on foot, leaving the engine running.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found equipment which could be used to facilitate a break-in.

Further investigations led police to the 19-year-old, who was arrested at around 1am on Sunday.

Court appearance

The man appeared before a court later on Sunday and was remanded in custody for two days.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
