Limassol, Cyprus. Police said they discovered a further 260 kilograms of ketamine in a warehouse on Monday, adding to 126 kilograms seized in a major drugs operation last week.

The substance was detected during ongoing tests on evidence collected in connection with the case.

Searches and arrests

The discovery followed an operation two days earlier, during which police searched two properties in Limassol and arrested four suspects, comprising two couples from Israel and Palestine.

At the home of a 53-year-old man, officers found 34 grams of cocaine, 246 grams of ketamine, 15 grams of methadone and 12 grams of MDMA.

Police also seized €4,150 in cash, 42 packets of untaxed cigarettes and mobile phones.

At a second property belonging to a 50-year-old man, police found 126 kilograms of ketamine, a precision scale and additional mobile phones.

Investigation continues

Police believe the group was part of an organised network that smuggled drugs into Cyprus from Israel using luxury yachts docked at marinas in Limassol and Larnaca. The drugs were allegedly concealed in paint cans.

According to police, the drugs were stored at the two properties before being sold, with buyers limited to Israeli residents in Cyprus rather than Cypriot nationals.

The four suspects appeared before Limassol District Court on Sunday and were remanded in custody for eight days while the investigation continues.
