Limassol, Cyprus. Police said a 45-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a Turkish Cypriot man, aged 24. A 30-year-old man had been arrested earlier that morning, while a third suspect remained wanted.

Victim’s account

According to police, the victim reported that three people approached him in a park at about 7pm on Friday. After an argument, they asked him to enter their car.

He said they drove him to an unidentified rural location, where he suffered a stab wound to his right leg. Police said the three attackers fled, and a passerby found the injured man and took him to Limassol general hospital.

Police investigation

Police identified both arrested men and the wanted individual as Greek Cypriots.

Speaking on Monday, Limassol police deputy operations chief Lefteris Kyriacou said the attackers had abducted the victim, beaten him and wounded him with a knife because they believed he was a suspect in recent dog theft cases.

Kyriacou said officers were investigating kidnapping and grievous bodily harm, adding that further developments were expected in the period ahead.

Police said their investigation remained ongoing.
