Showers forecast for Tuesday, with worsening weather expected on Wednesday

Nicosia, Cyprus. Tuesday’s forecast indicates partial cloud cover, with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing from noon over higher mountain areas, inland districts and the north. Conditions are expected to worsen on Wednesday afternoon, starting in the west before extending across the island.

Tuesday’s conditions

Cloud cover is forecast to increase gradually on Tuesday, becoming predominant, with scattered light rainfall continuing until late afternoon.

Daytime temperatures are expected to reach approximately 28 degrees Celsius in inland areas and along the southern and eastern coasts. Highs of about 27 degrees are forecast for the western and northern coasts, while higher mountain areas should reach around 19 degrees.

Winds will chiefly come from directions between southwest and northwest, at strengths of 3–4 Beaufort. Windward coastal areas are expected to experience a temporary strength of 4 Beaufort during the afternoon. Sea conditions will range from calm to slightly rough.

Overnight forecast

Predominantly cloudy skies are expected tonight, with scattered rain particularly affecting western and northern areas.

Temperatures are forecast to fall to approximately 18 degrees Celsius inland, 21 degrees along the coast and 11 degrees at higher mountain elevations.

Winds should ease to a gentle strength of around 3 Beaufort, while seas will remain between calm and slightly rough.

Unsettled weather through Friday

Wednesday’s forecast calls for predominantly cloudy skies, with rain in some western areas and occasional thunderstorms likely to produce hail.

The expected afternoon deterioration will begin in western areas before spreading elsewhere across the island. Rain and storms could become intense or persist for extended periods in some locations.
