Paphos, Cyprus. Two Israeli women were arrested after customs agents found 29 cartons of duty-free cigarettes in their luggage at Paphos airport on Monday.


Customs inspection

Acting on a tipoff, customs agents stopped the two passengers for a luggage inspection.

Nineteen cartons containing 200 cigarettes each were found in the luggage of one woman, while ten cartons containing 200 cigarettes each were found in the luggage of the second woman.

Out-of-court settlement

Both women were later released after reaching out-of-court settlements of €1,140 and €600 respectively.

The cigarettes were confiscated and will be destroyed.
