Two men arrested in Limassol after police seize 2.1 kilograms of opiates

Limassol, Cyprus. Police on Friday arrested two men, aged 21 and 23, after seizing a total of 2.1 kilograms of opiates in Limassol. The two were later rearrested under court warrants and taken into custody.

Street stop and bag search

According to police, officers stopped the 23-year-old while he was walking on a street in Limassol on Friday afternoon. A search of his bag found two nylon packages containing dried poppy pods of the plant Mykonos or Hypnophoros, with a total gross weight of 418 grams.

Search of home

Police then searched the suspect’s home, where they found the 21-year-old. Officers also discovered a cardboard box containing eight nylon packages with dried poppy pods, with a total gross weight of 1 kilogram and 682 grams.

Custody

Both men were subsequently rearrested pursuant to court warrants and taken into custody.
