Limassol, Cyprus. Two men fired at a building housing several companies in the Linopetra area late on Wednesday, damaging the entrance and a first-floor window, police said.

The shooting occurred at around 10.50pm, with investigators finding five shell casings at the scene.

Investigation under way

Officers found that about five shots had struck the building’s entrance door and a glass display case.

Limassol deputy police chief Lefteris Kyriakou said evidence gathered so far indicates that two individuals carried out the attack.

“From the examinations so far, it appears that the perpetrators were two individuals,” he said.

The suspects were riding a motorcycle when they fired at the building, police said.

Building owner abroad

The building belongs to a Ukrainian businessman, who was overseas at the time of the shooting. Police said he will provide a statement after returning to Cyprus.

Kyriakou said the owner has no prior history with police and that there had been no previous complaint or involvement in any matter.

Company staff told investigators that neither the business nor its owner had received previous threats or had been involved in disputes before the shooting.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area in an effort to identify the two suspects.
