Nicosia, Cyprus. The University of Cyprus will charge annual tuition fees of up to €25,000 for four English-taught undergraduate programmes scheduled to begin in the 2027 academic year, following cabinet approval. The approval set mandatory fees and initial intake quotas for international and local applicants.

Programmes and fees

The government approved the programmes last month, marking the university’s first expansion into undergraduate degrees taught entirely in English.

The new courses are a Medicine degree (MD); a Bachelor in Business Administration in Accounting or Finance; a Bachelor in Business Administration in Marketing, Operations Management or Management; and a Bachelor in Economics, Economic Theory and Econometrics or International and European Economic Studies.

Medicine will be offered by the Medical School, while the other three programmes will fall under the Faculty of Economics and Management. University officials said the courses meet modern societal and labour market demands.

Annual tuition for Medicine will be €25,000. The three Business Administration and Economics programmes will each cost €10,000 per year.

Student intake quotas

For the 2027-2028 academic year, up to 30 students may enter the Medicine programme through international entrance examinations, with a minimum annual intake of 22 students.

The Bachelor in Business Administration in Accounting or Finance will have a maximum of 35 students and a minimum intake of 25. The Bachelor in Business Administration in Marketing, Operations Management or Management and the Bachelor in Economics will each have a 35-student cap and a minimum annual intake of 20 students.

Local applications

Under legislative provisions adopted by the government, candidates sitting the Pan-Cyprian Examinations may apply for up to an additional 20 per cent of places above the international entrance examination quota, provided they pay the required tuition fees.

Applicants with Pan-Cyprian Examination results will submit applications for assessment against the overall criteria of each course. University officials expect strong interest from local candidates who might otherwise consider private universities in Cyprus or institutions abroad.

University of Cyprus sources said domestic demand is likely to drive enrolment during the initial years. The programmes will cater to graduates of public and private schools in Cyprus, as well as qualified international applicants.

Financial sustainability

Medicine tuition aligns with rates in Cyprus’ private sector, while fees for the business and economics degrees are slightly higher than those charged by equivalent private university programmes in Cyprus.

Official proposal documents submitted to the cabinet stated that the fees remain competitive and were calculated through financial sustainability studies to ensure that each degree is funded through tuition revenue.
