Upgraded Pattichio Municipal Park opens in Larnaca after eight-month delay
Larnaca’s largest park has reopened following a €5 million upgrade that added paths, viewing points, a playground and a botanical garden.

Larnaca, Cyprus. Larnaca’s upgraded Pattichio Municipal Park has opened to the public after an eight-month delay, following a project costing more than €5 million.
The redevelopment added walking and cycling routes, viewing points, a playground, a botanical garden and upgraded existing infrastructure.
Redesigned project
Construction began in October 2023, and the park was handed over to the public a few days ago.
The project was delayed mainly by changes to the original plans after residents strongly objected to the proposed use of concrete in the park. The redesign sought to respect the natural environment and strengthen links between visitors, the park and the nearby salt lake wetland.
New facilities and routes
A circular elevated footbridge has been built around the existing amphitheatre, creating a route through the trees at leaf level and a viewing area that has become popular for watching the sunset.
The park now includes a cafe restaurant, playground and botanical garden with aromatic plants. Two new viewing points overlook the salt lake, while new pedestrian and cycling routes, planting and information signs have also been installed.
Infrastructure upgrades
Existing walkways, entrances, lighting, street furniture and fencing have also been upgraded.
“Users, residents and visitors alike, will be able to exercise, socialise, attend cultural events and take in, from viewing points, the salt lake and the broader natural beauty of the area surrounding Pattichio Park,” the municipality said.
