Larnaca, Cyprus. Low-cost airline Wizz Air launched a Larnaca-Madrid route in September as part of its expansion in Cyprus. Separately, Limassol-based Superpositions Studio is developing a quantum computing software platform to help businesses assess whether the technology can deliver practical value.

Wizz Air strengthens links with Spain

In an exclusive interview with the Cyprus Mail, Wizz Air network director Andras Szabo said the airline saw considerable potential for year-round travel between Cyprus and Spain.

He described the new connection as an important addition to Wizz Air’s Larnaca network, reflecting its broader strategy of strengthening Cyprus’ links with European destinations.

“We are very excited about the launch of Madrid,” Szabo said.

“It is an important addition to our network from Larnaca and another step in strengthening the connectivity between Cyprus and Spain,” he added.

Szabo said the route would give passengers in Cyprus direct access to Madrid while making Cyprus more accessible to Spanish travellers throughout the year.

Quantum software platform takes shape in Limassol

Superpositions Studio is building its platform to help businesses determine whether rapidly developing quantum computing technology can provide practical value without requiring them to employ specialist quantum scientists.

In a separate exclusive interview with the Cyprus Mail, the company discussed its origins in Cyprus, its work across finance and energy, and its ambition to develop Limassol into a centre for quantum software research.

The company said it was established to address a fundamental problem in the quantum computing industry: businesses are increasingly interested in the technology but often struggle to determine whether it can solve a particular business problem.

“Exactly that ‘do not yet know’ is the problem,” the company said.

According to Superpositions Studio, more than $40 billion has been invested in quantum computers worldwide and more than €11 billion in Europe, while the machines themselves are already operating.
