Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus, Greece, France and Italy held the concluding stage of their annual naval and air exercise, EUNOMIA-7/2026, on Thursday in waters off southern Cyprus, the defence ministry reported on Saturday.

Minister and officials observe operations

Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas watched the closing operations from Rizzo, an Italian Navy frigate hosting the exercise’s Distinguished Visitors Day (DV-Day), according to the ministry.

The ministry listed Greek ambassador Konstantinos Kollias, French ambassador Clelia Chevrier Kolacko, Italian ambassador Antonella Cavallari and Major General Neophytos Pachoulides, the National Guard deputy chief, among those attending.

Senior military officials representing the participating countries also attended, the ministry said. They included Rear Admiral Mascara Ouk, deputy commander of French forces in the Mediterranean; Rear Admiral Ioannis Sarakis, deputy chief of the Hellenic Fleet Headquarters; and Rear Admiral Cristo Salvatore Traetta, commander of Italy’s Fifth Naval Division.

Cooperation and maritime security

The ministry said EUNOMIA-7/2026 was intended to deepen cooperation among the four countries’ air and naval forces while improving their readiness and coordination during operations.

It added that the exercise sought to develop their capacity to jointly plan and carry out operations at both the tactical and operational levels, while supporting stability across the region and maritime security in the eastern Mediterranean.
