British woman arrested at Paphos airport over 44 cartons of cigarettes

Paphos, Cyprus. A British woman was arrested on Monday at Paphos airport after customs officers seized 44 cartons of cigarettes from her luggage.

Customs seizure

The cartons contained 200 cigarettes each and did not bear the required health warnings, indicating they had been brought into the Republic from the north.

Out-of-court settlement

The woman was arrested for evident offences but was later released after reaching an out-of-court settlement and paying €2,800.
