Paphos Restaurants: Areas, Cuisines and How to Choose
Where to look for restaurants and tavernas in Paphos: the harbour, Tombs of the Kings Avenue, the old town, Coral Bay and the villages. Prices, the bill, winter and booking.

Paphos restaurants: in brief
The Paphos area has hundreds of restaurants and tavernas: according to the Deputy Ministry of Tourism register as of 24 April 2024, several hundred establishments are licensed in the ‘restaurant’ category alone and more than a hundred as tavernas, from Kato Paphos harbour to the mountain villages.
So it is easier to choose by area, format and season than by ‘best of’ lists. This guide does not rank or name venues: it explains where the different kinds of restaurant are in Paphos, what eating out costs and what to check before you go.
Below we cover the harbour and Kato Paphos, Tombs of the Kings Avenue, the old town, Coral Bay and the villages, prices and the bill, and tips for the winter season.
The harbour and Kato Paphos
One of the seaside dining areas is Kato Paphos harbour. Its landmark is the medieval Paphos Castle, which, according to the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, stands at the western end of the harbour.
According to the 2024 register, many restaurants are registered along the seafront Poseidonos Avenue. People dine here with a sea view and combine a meal with a walk along the seafront and to the archaeological park.
This is a tourist area. Before you sit down, compare the menus of several places: a 2025 survey by the Cyprus Consumers Association showed that prices for dishes in the same category differ several-fold from one place to another.
Tombs of the Kings Avenue and the mall
The second area with many restaurants close together is Tombs of the Kings Avenue, lined with hotels; it leads to the necropolis of the same name, covered in our separate guide. According to the Deputy Ministry of Tourism register, dozens of restaurants and tavernas are registered here.
Kings Avenue Mall stands where the avenue meets Apostolou Pavlou, and according to the same register, outlets of international chains are registered there. It is an option for those who want the familiar menu of a chain restaurant, including families with children.
The 2024 register shows which venues were licensed on that date, but does not prove that each of them is open now. Before heading to a particular place, check its website or call.
The old town
The historic centre of Paphos, Ktima with Kennedy Square, is in the upper part of the town, away from the harbour. The Paphos Municipality website describes a four-part project to redevelop the traditional commercial centre and Kennedy Square, assigned to the 2014–2020 programming period; the page gives no status or timetable for the works.
A separate municipal page is devoted to the town market: the project description includes metal canopies over the market and a restaurant with indoor and open-air seating on the first floor. The page gives no timetable or status for the works, so check on the spot what has already been done.
The old town combines well with a daytime walk around the centre and the market. Here the choice of cafés and snack bars is not tied to a sea view, and Kato Paphos harbour can be reached by car or bus.
Coral Bay and the villages
According to the 2024 register, there are licensed restaurants and tavernas all over the district: in Coral Bay and Peyia, Agios Georgios, Kissonerga, Tala, Kathikas, Drouseia, Simou, Polis and Latchi. The villages have many tavernas, and Latchi and Agios Georgios are on the coast.
What meze is and how to order it is explained in our separate article on Cypriot food. If you order meze, ask how many dishes it includes and how many people the price covers.
Before a long drive, check that the taverna is open: call or look at its page. The Deputy Ministry of Tourism register gives the venue’s address, phone number and category (restaurant, taverna, pizzeria and others), but not its opening hours.
Paphos restaurant prices and the bill
According to the Cyprus Statistical Service (CYSTAT), in September 2026 restaurant and accommodation prices were 3.84% higher than a year earlier. Paphos is one of the four urban areas where CYSTAT collects prices for the index, and its weight in the index is 12%.
A guide to amounts comes from a Cyprus Consumers Association survey carried out in May–September 2025 across all districts of the Republic of Cyprus: according to the Cyprus Mail, pork dishes cost from €7.50 to €25.80, lamb dishes from €14 to €30, appetisers from €15 to €25 per person, fish appetisers up to €28, and platters from €29 to €42.
According to the Cyprus Mail, under a 1968 law the service charge is already included in the bill, so tipping is optional. According to the tax advisers Andersen, restaurant services carry a reduced VAT rate of 9%, which is already included in menu prices.
Winter and booking
Paphos does not shut down in winter, but it runs at a slower pace. According to Paphos Hoteliers Association figures for the 2025/26 winter season, reported by the Cyprus Mail, almost 10,500 hotel beds were available in the district, about the same as a year earlier.
Some venues in tourist areas cut their hours or close for the season in winter, so from November to March call ahead. In summer, especially at weekends, check in advance whether you need to book for the evening.
If you are just arriving, our guide to Paphos Airport covers the terminal and flights and our article on airport transport the journey from the airport; other places to eat in the town and district are in the restaurant directory on our site. The pointers in this article were checked as of 25 October 2026.

There are wonderful restaurants of Paphos! We had a rest with the family this summer on Cyprus iin the city Paphos and visited the restaurant Colloseum. The kitchen is an unusual and very tasty here. We are particularly struck by the architecture of the restaurant! As if we were in the ancient time. The prices in the restaurant certainly isn’t low. Also Colloseum is spacious, so many people don’t create discomfort! We come back to this nice place next year, I very hope! We love Cyprus.
