Cyprus receives 500,000 SAT1 foot-and-mouth disease vaccines from European Commission

Nicosia, Cyprus. Veterinary services received 500,000 vaccines against SAT1 foot-and-mouth disease provided by the European Commission to help tackle the virus in the north, it was announced on Friday.

Vaccine supply and purpose

The vaccines were supplied by the European vaccine bank to increase the resilience of vulnerable animal populations and reduce the risk of further spread of the virus.

European Commission monitoring

The European Commission said it would monitor the epidemiological situation in Cyprus and evaluate further needs to ensure the disease is effectively addressed.
