Postal parcels in Cyprus: tracking and collection

Checked: 28 September 2026.

Where does a parcel’s journey begin?

A parcel goes through acceptance, sorting, transport, possible customs checks and delivery or collection. A ‘dispatched’ notification from an online shop does not always mean that Cyprus Post has already received the parcel. Compare the date of handover to the carrier with the first event shown in the official tracking information.

Please keep a record of the order number, the seller’s name, the tracking code, the recipient’s address and the payment confirmation. Some delivery methods do not provide full tracking at every stage: the absence of a new scan does not in itself prove that the parcel has been lost. An official Cyprus Post guide explains which codes and events are available in its system.

If there are several operators involved in the delivery chain, the same parcel may be displayed differently in the shop, by the sender and by the Cyprus Post. Check which operator is responsible for the current stage. Do not enter your card details on the website from an SMS simply because the message contains the correct parcel number.

Address and notifications

Please check the spelling of the name, postcode, street, house or flat number and telephone number on your order before sending it. For a rural address or housing estate, add a clear description of the entrance, if the seller’s form allows for this. Cyprus Post publishes guidelines on address formatting, but an overseas shop may have restrictions on the fields available.

A delivery notification may be sent via various channels, depending on the service and the sender’s details. Set the official Cyprus Post website or app as your main source of tracking information. Do not assume that any message regarding an ‘urgent delivery charge’ is accurate: visit the website manually and check the tracking number, the sender and the specific stage of delivery.

If you need to change your address after placing an order, first check with the seller to see if the details can be amended before the parcel is handed over to the carrier. Once the parcel has arrived in the country, whether it can be redirected depends on the service selected. Do not assume that a branch member of staff will simply be able to change the recipient’s details based on a verbal request.

Tracking without drawing false conclusions

Open the official Track & Trace service and enter the code exactly as it appears. Make a note of the latest date, location and description of the event. The status ‘arrived in the country’ is not the same as ‘ready for collection’: sorting, data verification and customs formalities may take place between those stages.

If there have been no updates for a long time, compare the seller’s estimated delivery time with the service type and ask the sender for confirmation that the item has been posted. Cyprus Post has separate information pages for collecting and tracking items. These help you understand when the sender should initiate the enquiry and what details to provide.

Please do not post your full tracking code alongside your address and telephone number in a public comment. When contacting support, please have your order number, the recipient’s name, the date of the most recent event and a screenshot of the order to hand. Ask for a reference number and save the reply; this is more helpful than making repeated calls without a record.

Customs and payments

Documents detailing the value and contents of the consignment may be required for shipments outside the relevant customs zone. A request for information does not mean that the operator has already calculated the final payment. Please keep customs charges, handling fees and the delivery cost quoted by the shop separate.

Please provide the invoice, proof of payment and a description of the goods. If the price on the order differs from the amount debited due to delivery charges or a discount, please explain the discrepancy using supporting documents, not a doctored screenshot. Rules and rates depend on the origin and category of the goods; do not use the generic table from the old forum.

Please make the payment via the officially specified channel after checking the amount and the purpose of the payment. Phishing messages often create a false sense of urgency and lead to a similar-looking website. If in doubt, visit the Cyprus Post website yourself and call the published number, rather than using the contact details from a suspicious link.

Collection from branch or delivery

When the status indicates the location and readiness for collection, check the opening hours of the specific branch and the retention period. Take the document required by the service for identification, along with the notification code. If someone else is collecting the parcel, clarify the form of authorisation in advance: verbal consent over the phone may not be sufficient.

Check the external condition of the parcel before accepting delivery. If there is any visible damage, ask a member of staff to record it in accordance with the operator’s procedure and take photographs. Check the contents and ensure everything is complete in accordance with the seller’s and delivery service’s guidelines; do not sign the delivery note without making a note of any concerns if the condition of the parcel raises questions.

For deliveries to an address, please check whether the recipient must be present and whether a second delivery attempt is possible. Compare the shop’s records of ‘successful delivery’ with the courier’s records and the actual receipt of the parcel. If the parcel is marked as having been handed over to another person, submit a formal enquiry, keeping a record of the evidence.

If your parcel is delayed or has gone missing

First, find out the last confirmed event and the operator responsible. The seller usually has a contract with the carrier and can initiate a search or make a claim on their own behalf. It is important for the buyer to report non-receipt of the goods in a timely manner, in accordance with the marketplace’s rules and payment terms, without waiting indefinitely for a new scan.

In your enquiry, state the facts rather than making assumptions about the theft: the date of dispatch, the tracking code, the latest status, the address and any replies you have already received. Request the outcome of the search in writing. Submitting parallel enquiries to several services is only useful if the details provided are identical; conflicting addresses will complicate the search.

If the item was expensive or needed to be delivered urgently, keep records of its value and the promised delivery time. Your rights under the transaction with the seller and compensation from the postal service may differ. Check the insurance terms and conditions and the limit of liability for the specific type of post, rather than relying on the term ‘registered’ used in conversation.

Final procedure

Before making a purchase, check the delivery method, whether the parcel can be tracked, and that the address is correct. Once the parcel has been dispatched, make a note of the tracking code and check the official status without clicking on any random links. If customs request documentation, only provide genuine documents via a verified channel.

Upon receipt, check the branch, the recipient’s authorisation and the condition of the parcel. If the parcel has not arrived, note the last scan date, contact the courier and the seller, and keep a record of the tracking numbers. This will help you distinguish between a genuine delay and a missed notification.

The Cyprus Post information pages were checked on 28 September 2026. Rates, branch opening hours, customs procedures and retention periods are subject to change; for your specific consignment, the terms and conditions of the service selected and the operator’s response apply. This guide does not guarantee delivery times or the amount of compensation.
