Cyprus, with its ancient history and winemaking traditions, is the very first island in the Mediterranean where wine production began. There are a great many vineyards and wineries here, as well as thousands of wine lovers. That is precisely why Cyprus simply had to have a club that would introduce new trends and act as a bridge between winemakers and admirers of their produce.
In 1998, the Cyprus Oenophile Club was founded, with the primary aim of promoting the culture of wine and fine wines.
In line with this aim, the club currently focuses on disseminating information about wine, covering everything from production to distribution, the history of winemaking in Cyprus, the value of wines, and their role in fostering relationships and society.
The Cyprus Oenophile Club organises lectures, presentations, seminars and courses, and holds wine tastings for its members and the general public. The club also holds regular meetings and organises educational tours around Cyprus and abroad. The club actively participates in events related to winemaking and utilises the media to promote this field.
The club collaborates closely with government institutions and departments, wineries, restaurants and other organisations.
The club currently has over 700 members. These are people who truly love wine, understand the culture of winemaking, and respect the art, history and traditions associated with it. They take an active part in the club’s activities and contribute to the achievement of its objectives.
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who loves and appreciates Cypriot wine and is willing to help the club achieve its objectives. The membership application form can be completed on the official website: www.cypruswineacademy.eu.
