President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades has stressed the importance of restoration of good relationship between Russia and the EU.
Mr. Anastasiades has pointed out that historically, as well as currently, Russia is one of the most important partners of the European countries.
He stated that: “after the agreements which were signed in Minsk between the four countries: Russia, France, Ukraine and Germany, we must make every possible effort to bring those agreements into life”.
The Head of Cyprus believes that no one can underestimate the role of Russia in achieving worldwide peace.
On the 21st of December 2015, the EU Council has prolonged the sanctions against Russian until 31st of July 2016.
