Larnaca, Cyprus. Disy leader Annita Demetriou filed her candidacy on Wednesday morning for the forthcoming parliamentary election, heading her party’s ballot in the Larnaca district. She urged the public to vote on May 24.

Demetriou, who served as House president during the last parliament, said she was putting forward her candidacy alongside Disy’s Larnaca ballot. “Larnaca and our homeland deserve the best,” she said.
Call for voter turnout
The 40-year-old, who is from the Larnaca district village of Troulloi, said Disy has “the right candidates in every district” and called on people to go to the polls. She said voters should choose the best candidates so the country can move forward, adding that people want simplicity, feasible solutions, and responses to everyday demands.

A total of six of the 56 MPs elected will be from the Larnaca district.
