The number of victims of the earthquake in the Southern Taiwan increased to 35 people, as Reuters reported. Earlier, 26 victims were announced. Whereabouts of another 117 individuals remain unknown.
Efforts of the Emergency Services are focused on clearing of debris from the collapsed 17-storey building in the city with 2 million inhabitants.
Powerful earthquake of 6,4 magnitude struck Taiwan in the early hours of Saturday, 6th of February. Epicenter was 43 kilometers away in South-East direction at the depth of 23 kilometers. The majority of casualties were buried under the debris of the residential complex “Golden Dragon”. Totally 9 buildings collapsed in Taiwan.
