Iresha Chathurani makes Lord’s appearance

Earlier in the week, Cyprus national team captain Iresha Chathurani became the first Cypriot woman cricketer to play at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Representing the ICC Europe Women’s XI against MCC Women during the annual Women’s Day celebrations on Friday, she helped secure a 47-run victory.

With kit sponsorship from Newbery Cricket for the event, she scored 2 not out, took 3/14 in four overs, and held a catch to dismiss MCC’s top scorer Lucy Western. In the second match at Wormsley Cricket Ground on Saturday, she took two wickets as ICC Europe won again to clinch the two-match series 2-0.
